Business Situation

Client required an e-commerce website. The website was about photographs which users can view and purchase online. This eCommerce website had the following features:

  • Information about the company.
  • Latest public news about the company and its products.
  • Full product catalogue with trade discount matrix updated from the back office accounting and Sales Order Processing (SOP) system.
  • Product database automatically updated by the back office product database.
  • Online Retail store featuring self service account management.

Architecture

Technologies Used :- ASP.NET 2.0
Database :-SQL SERVER 2005

The Back-end is handled by using SAP Business One 2007 A.

Solution

Q3 built an e-commerce website with the following features:

  • New Product Announcements: This is edited via the content administration interface, and can be updated anytime.
  • Lead Item – This promotes both - product series and seasons. Seasons are controlled by a calendar system, which also uses the Jewish calendar to know when to display promotions for Hanukah and other festivals.
    • Product Catalogue - This provides the following information:
    • Product category and group
    • Product stock code (1720-1)
    • User can Order High and Low Resolution Image
    • Dimensions choice (e.g. 4 13/16 in. x 6 15/16 in.)
    • Discount % (trade only)
    • Customers Price (trade only)

Re-ordering stock typically requires companies to send a ticket return or fill-in a paper-based form and fax the filled-in form. With Grid ordering, the customer simply enters the grid code and pocket numbers in the display or their customer reference number to make a new order, which is then sent directly to the e-commerce website's Greeting's Order Processing system.

  • Open Order - This feature allows users to browse through the full product catalogue, add items to shopping cart, select quantities, and place the order.
  • Order Tracking - This feature allows customers to track the placement and fulfillment of orders. For additional information, the system links to the UPS tracking number facility on shipments.

Benefits

The proposed website will help client in reaching a much larger audience for selling products or services as compared to a brick & mortar business that would reach only the local community.

Customer Speaks

blockquoteFaced with the need for more resources, we were initially hesitant about how it would work to outsource some development work. Q3 has been an ideal partner; we now think of them as an extension of our development team, and appreciate all their efforts to learn about our people and our products. They have been excellent at seeking clarification on design questions, and have increased the knowledge and depth of their team in response to our needs. We particularly appreciated their willingness to document their work using our internal systems, saving us administration time. We would not hesitate to recommend Q3 to anyone seeking a reliable, knowledgeable and conscientious development partner.blockquote
