Business Situation and Challenges

The scope was to manage the IT infrastructure for the end-customers of the Client. The end-customers needed to access applications hosted on the servers, which were mainly the OWA, the SharePoint portal and the MS-Outlook application. The mailbox was hosted with the ISP which they wanted to move to their base and hosted on Exchange Server.

Some of the issues being faced by the Client were as follows:

  • Deployment and Maintenance was a big head-ache for them
  • They wanted a reliable and dedicated resource who could do the needful and support the end-customers with modifications or requests
  • They wanted their existing contact base which was in Outlook.pst file to be imported into the SharePoint website which included the entire attachments and notes as is with no data loss.
  • They wanted the group mail accounts to be setup with forwards set to their individual PDAs.

Technical Solution

The accessibility to the end-customers was provided through Citrix Access Essentials and with the pre-approved published applications. The mail management was migrated from ISP end and mailboxes configured with user profiles on the Small Business Server & Exchange Server. The SharePoint portal website was deployed with user level and document level security enforced. The contacts from Outlook which was a mammoth 4 GB pst file into Sharepoint Lists with attachments with no data loss. Other maintenance and services provided to the end-customers were:

  • Architecture and software recommendations and migrating the servers to SBS 2008 and installation of Microsoft Office 2007 on the server for Search capabilities across the SharePoint portal
  • Managed the ADC and the member server with backups in place
  • Managing & deployed Citrix Access Essentials 3.0 with Gateway Essentials. Also published applications which were needed per user basis.

Customer Speaks

blockquoteWe specialize in web and mobile software design. For one project that involved 5 CMS technologies, Blackberry and iPhone applications, we were searching for a partner from Europe to India and were seeing solution companies. Last year at CeBIT 2009, we found Q3 Technologies under the Indian Pavilion and we went through a selection process by visiting them and other companies in India. We are now associated with Q3 for more than a year and in Q3 we have found the right partners with all the skills in order to architect, develop, test and finally develop a brand new solution.blockquote
