Business Situation
The Client aimed at creating web parts, customization of existing search results, and integrating Flash application on its existing web site. All these features were to be done for SharePoint 2007 and later on migrated to SharePoint 2010.
Challenges
The challenges were to:
- Study the specifications given by the Client.
- There were issues in upgrading to SharePoint 2010.
- Customize features.
- Problem in branding because of difference in User Interface of SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010.
Technical Solution
Q3 came up with a dedicated team of developers and QA experts to bring up a technical solution for the Client's requirements. The team of developers analyzed the requirements, designed the application as per Client's requirements, and finally came up with a solution that ensured all needs and objectives of the Client were covered.
As per Client's requirements, Q3 setup a server and performed installation and configuration of all required software at the client end. Web parts were added to all the pages of the existing web site and controlled from one location, dynamic alerts and copyright was added and Flash application was integrated. Event handler was applied with Flash application to make it more dynamic and flexible. Customized search and customization of content query web part was also provided. Web services were used to provide cross site collection data display. These features were added for SharePoint 2007 and later on migrated for SharePoint 2010.
The QA team also got involved from the very beginning to ensure desired quality and bug free software is provided timely including all the objectives laid by the Client.
