Business Situation
Client wanted to implement a packaged internet/intranet HR solution which could be tailored and readily adaptable to customers’ on-going and changing business requirements. The solution was to be implemented with a technology that could be seamlessly integrated and would provide a robust and scalable architecture to support the new functionality.
Solution
To meet the key requirements, SAP Netweaver platform was selected to implement the HR solution.
The included components of SAP Netweaver platform were:
- SAP EP was used to support the client’s SAP Human Resources Management System, by integrating custom BSP HR applications through SAP EP. Client employees would have access to Human Resources information through SAP EP, information which was not available before. The portal has become the primary delivery mechanism for content and information. It is also the delivery mechanism for new applications, including an impressive array of new productivity-enhancing iViews.
- SAP XI was used for new SAP-bound interfaces as well as for interfacing with the client’s non-SAP applications.
- SAP Web Application Server is a reliable, open standard-based application server from SAP. It supports both J2EE and ABAP, and serves as the underlying infrastructure for all new and upcoming SAP solutions, like SAP R/3 Enterprise, SAP Portal, SAP Exchange Infrastructure, and all other SAP components. It provided the platform to develop, execute, and operate Web applications and Web services as well as traditional SAP GUI based applications.
- ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) is the latest version of mySAP ERP. The SAP Business Warehouse, SAP Strategic Enterprise Management and Internet Transaction Server were also merged into SAP ECC, allowing users to run them under one instance.
- BSP (SAP’s web application technology) was used for developing numerous custom HR applications.(payroll, benefits, recruiting, etc.).
